BTS Already Broke Records With Their New Album, 'Love Yourself: Tear
Massively successful K-pop group BTS released Love Yourself: Tear today, their third Korean-language studio album (and sixth overall). If the rapturous response to the band’s previous albums serves as any indication, BTS will have a massive global hit on their hands, one that furthers their quest for world domination. There’s no questioning how it will fare in their home country of South Korea, where Love Yourself: Tear became an unequivocal success and smashed a major record weeks before it even came out.
BTS first announced Love Yourself: Tear on April 14 to feverish excitement. Pre-orders became available on April 18, and in the first six days of the pre-order period, Love Yourself: Tear sold a record 1.44 million copies in South Korea. Not only did Love Yourself: Tear become the most pre-ordered album of all time in South Korea (beating its million-selling predecessor, Love Yourself: Her), but it also made BTS the first K-pop group to exceed one million pre-orders with multiple albums.
