Pop star Shawn Mendes announces Des Moines concert for 2019
Canada's latest breakout pop star is headed to Des Moines' largest stage — but not until next summer.
"Treat You Better" singer Shawn Mendes announced Tuesday plans to make his Wells Fargo Arena debut on June 22, 2019. Mendes releases his self-titled third studio album on May 25.
Tickets to see Mendes go on sale May 19 at 10 a.m. via Hy-VeeTix.com, at the Wells Fargo Arena box office (233 Center St.), via phone at 844-55-HYVEE or at participating Des Moines area Hy-Vee locations.
A guitar pop singer al la Ed Sheeran, the 19-year-old Mendes made waves in 2015 with the single "Sitches," which climbed to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. His notable singles include "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," "Mercy" and the Camila Cabello collaboration 'I Know What You Did Last Summer."
His sophomore album, 2016's "Illuminate," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, Mendes recorded a live performance in 2017 for MTV's "Unplugged" album series.
Mendes has released three songs off his upcoming record, "In My Blood," "Lost in Japan" and "Youth," featuring Khalid.
