Washington assured the German authorities that it is not yet planning to impose sanctions that could hinder the construction of gas pipelines connecting Europe with Russia, Reuters reports. In particular, the Americans do not intend to oppose the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project.

"We got the promises of the American side, especially the projects related to the pipelines, and there are promises of the American side to exclude these projects from sanctions," the representative of the German Ministry of Economics and Energy said at a briefing in Berlin. Her words lead RBC.

A source in the Russian government said that the issue of the withdrawal of gas pipelines from the threat of sanctions was discussed with the US authorities by the vice-president of the European Commission Maros Shefovich.
