The approval rating of President Vladimir Putin's activities in the people has fallen by almost 15% after the government announced its upcoming retirement age in the Russian Federation, Vedomosti writes citing data from the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) poll.
On the day of the announcement, on June 14, 78% of respondents polled the activity of the president as a whole, and on June 15 - 70.9%. A similar government rating fell over the day from 48.4 to 44.6%.
Over the next week, as the negative background around the pension reform strengthens, the levels of approval of the institutions of power have declined even more, and as of June 24, they amounted to 63.4% for Putin, 30.7% for Medvedev and 37.1% for the Cabinet as a whole , shows the latest poll of VTsIOM.

"The assessments of government bodies and their leaders fell first of all under the influence of the government's negative initiative on changing pension legislation," commented the head of the practice of political analysis and consulting of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, Mikhail Mamonov.
Earlier this week, the Kremlin recognized the link between the downgrading of the ratings of authorities and pension reform. At the same time, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin "does not participate in the discussion of this topic" and "never looks back at his rating."
According to the government bill, in Russia, a gradual increase in the retirement age from 55 to 63 years for women and from 60 to 65 for men is being prepared. Changes in the pension legislation are planned to be carried out beginning from 2019.
According to opinion polls, 90% of citizens are dissatisfied with the upcoming innovations. Opponents of the reform fear that, given the current statistics on life expectancy, raising the retirement age will lead to the fact that many Russians simply will not survive to retirement.
