Hi,

I decided to split this off from the discussion going on in the taxes thread.
Weddings are a racket.
Quick word of advice: rather than shelling out a ridiculous amount of cash for a professional photographer, go find an art student, offer them a much smaller amount and give them permission to use the pics in their portfolio. You get to save a few hundred bucks, the art student gets a leg up and more money for ramen & hot dogs, and everyone comes out a winner.
I tried suggesting this, but Future Mrs. Hamster had already booked the photographer (and paid a $500 non-refundable deposit).
Today's $2200+ paycheck (after bills) is going almost entirely towards the caterer & wedding cake. The rest of my tax refund will go to paying these off. I'm going to spend the rest of the month (and quite possibly the first week of March) working myself to the bone all hours of the night to be able to pay for everything and still put gas in my car and eat.
Weddings are a racket.

Any help will be apprecited.
